Warrington Borough Council will be introducing a new Allocations Policy in March 2026  and introducing  a new Choice Based Letting scheme where properties will be advertised and applicants will need to bid in order to be considered.

Warrington Borough Council has reviewed and updated its Housing Allocations Policy. This was so the policy could better reflect people’s circumstances locally, give priority to local people in housing need.  Applicants will need to have been resident in Warrington for 2 years or meet one of the local connetion criteria. 

Eligible applicants will be able to go online each week to see what properties are advertised and bid on up to 3 suitable properties each week.

From 1st November 2025  Warrington Borough Council are making some changes to their Allocations Policy.  the changes are as follows :

• Removal of Band 1 Additional preference for individuals in  Supported Accommodation. New application from individuals in supported accommodation  will be awarded Band 2 

• Introduction of Band 1 Additional preference for families in WBC temporary accommodation who need 2 or more bedrooms and have been awarded a main duty from Warrington Borough Council Housing Needs team

• Implementation of Band 1 Additional preference for social housing tenants who are  downsizing.
