The new Allocations Policy and Choice Based Lettings scheme has now been introduced from 17th March 2026

Existing applicants have been reassessed into the new criteria and interim bands awarded based on circumstances declared on the application . The bands are currently being checked against the criteria in the  policy and requests will soon start to be made for proofs of your circumstances .

Bidding cycles are available each week from Thursday 00:01am to the following Monday at 11:59pm.  Eligible applicants are now able to go online to see what properties are advertised and bid on up to 3 suitable properties each week.  It is not first come first served and bids can be placed at any time during the bidding cycle. 

Warrington Borough Council will be introducing a new Allocations Policy in March 2026  and introducing  a new Choice Based Letting scheme where properties will be advertised and applicants will need to bid in order to be considered.

Warrington Borough Council has reviewed and updated its Housing Allocations Policy. This was so the policy could better reflect people’s circumstances locally, give priority to local people in housing need.  Applicants will need to have been resident in Warrington for 2 years or meet one of the local connetion criteria.
